Ernie Jackson is a London based singer songwriter. His songs are a great unique blend of jazz, soul and pop, and have been played on BBC Radio 2, BBC Introducing, XFM London, Radio KC, EGH Radio, Radio Warwickshire and many more. Ernie is a brilliant live performer and really knows how to entertain a crowd.
Originally from Ripon in North Yorkshire, Ernie discovered his love for making music when his dad brought home some records from the jukebox in the local pub including Tutti Frutti by Little Richard. He got an old guitar out of the attic and started to play. Ernie spend time attempting cover versions of David Bowie, Sam Cooke, The Beatles and more, not always successfully. Wrong chords and a learning process later, Ernie used these musicians to teach himself how to write his own songs. With several odd jobs he bought himself his first classic 1952 Fender Telecaster guitar.
10 years, a few second hand guitars and thousands of songs later, Ernie moved to London and has just released a great new single 'Like You Used To'. The song is from his, as yet untitled, EP due for release in early 2017 and recorded with producer Adrian Hall (who's worked with Alicia Keys, Anna Calvi, Simply Red). Another single is to follow soon.

Ernie says of his music "This business is hard and you have to love it - it's an eat, sleep, breathe it kind of thing. I'm a sucker for a great melody and a super catchy hook. I'm proud of the recordings; they're honest and reflect everything that has got me to this point right now. When you write a song that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and brings tears to your eyes it's the best feeling. How could anyone not want to do that? It's magic".

The proceeds from the sales of the single are going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Ernie says "I've been personally affected by cancer and it breaks my heart that anyone should have to deal with the disease, especially at a time when you should be full of life, not fighting for it. We may not cure cancer with the proceeds of this single release, but we'll put a dent in its progress".
