Anna Pancaldi Interview and New Single!

Anna Pancaldi is a London based singer-songwriter. Her new single ʻKeep On Keeping Onʼ is released on 10th October, and it is the first single from her new EP 'Sweet Charity' scheduled for release in early 2017.

She has had two sold-out headline shows in London, at Servant Jazz Quarters and St Pancras Old Church where she premiered her first EP 'Black Tears' and single ʻDear Joeyʼ. For her new single Anna is headlining the stunning and haunting St Leonard’s Church in Shoreditch.

Anna has just returned from her first US trip. This summer Anna completed a double-headliner tour with Bryde, performing to captivated audiences at iconic music venues such as Rockwood Music Hall in NYC and Hotel Cafe in LA, plus Anna also made her TV debut, being interviewed and performing live on CBS TV LA.

Her second EP, 'Dear Joey', was released in April 2016 and charted at #3 in the singer-songwriter iTunes chart after previous success with her debut single 'Black Tears' charting at #6 in the same iTunes chart, ʻPromise Weʼll Never Grow Oldʼ was added to 6 Music’s ‘Fresh Faves’ list curated by Tom Robinson, and Radio 2’s Dermot O’Leary has described Anna as “really polished…she doesn’t need our help, we needs hers” – all this Anna has achieved as an unsigned, independent musician.

Anna's new single 'Keep On Keeping On' , produced by James Kenosha (Rhodes, Gavin James), is an intense emotive song. It's a rallying cry of a statement with Anna's distinctive powerful voice which tugs at your heart. Anna's voice and songwriting has matured since her debut EP and 'Keep On Keeping On' promises her new EP 'Sweet Charity' is one not to miss.

You're about to release a new single and new EP. Who and what influenced this single, EP and your music?

I am releasing the new single on 10th October and the EP in 2017 =) which I cannot wait for, so proud of this and it has taken me a long journey to be able to say and feel that being my harshest critic! Very much the life I have lived and the things around me that affected me the most have influenced pretty much everything I have written.

You recently returned from your first USA trip, performing at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. Hotel Cafe LA, and performing on TV on CBS TV LA. Tell us more about that experience. What's your best memory from the trip?

It was one I will never forget! Going to America came from a gut feeling and I decided to follow it, at the time of booking my flights all that was promised for me were some open mic nights and what it turned into was something so much more. It really taught me the importance of taking risks, knowing that sometimes it may work sometimes it might not, but this for me, was a sliding doors moment and may change my life. So I am very glad I followed that instinct. Playing to NYC was my highlight, the room was jam packed full and some people had even travelled three hours on a bus too see me play. It really was overwhelming and truly special.

What's your favourite song to perform live and why?

I really love singing 'Come On Love' which I wrote for my sister, but I think you can have a special connection with some of your songs and that one in particular is very poignant for me.

Who is your dream musician to work/perform with?

Well, Jeff Buckley would have been the one for me. What a guy, his voice, lyrics, melody and ability to transport people with his music is rare to find. He makes you feel something and that's just what music should do, but no that easy on such levels. I adore that guy.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

'Tapestry' by Carole King, it reminds me on living at home with my mum, dad, brother and sister. I love all those songs dearly, what a songwriter hey!

What are your plans for rest of the 2016 and ahead to 2017?

So I have my brand new single 'Keep On Keeping On' coming out on Oct 10th, I can't wait for you all to hear this one, it's a much bigger sound and evolved from my last EP 'Dear Joey,'. Then the full EP comes out in March. Then headed off on a UK and European tour in March and April of next year with the new EP. I have big dreams and putting my all into it, so 2017 is another year I look forward to. So much has happened since i release my first EP 'Black Tears' and am a firm believer in creating your own success. Loving the journey!

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

In 5 years definitely a couple of albums and touring more of the world with a bigger fan base. I'm building my career to make sure it's sustainable one with longevity. Music is my everything, not something i want to do, I need it, so must be careful in how that grows.

What music are you currently listening to?

At the moment I have 6 music on, love them! But I love Leon Bridges, Joseph and have been going back some of my favourites like Supertramp and Judy Garland.
