Back in July we told you about Bobby's upcoming album release and tour and last Friday we attended his London show at The Borderline :) This was the last gig of this tour by the New York-based British singer/songwriter, which has seen him travel across the United States and Europe. The gig was a homecoming gig in many ways, attended by Bobby's family and friends including fellow musician Sam Bradley @samueltwitt1 (New album out soon! Follow Sam on Twitter/Facebook and watch this space!) and this made for a great atmosphere.
*Before the gig we sat down and had a chat with Bobby about the tour, album, future plans and more. The interview will be up on the site in a few days*
The Borderline hosted a full evening of live music, with 2 support acts to entertain the crowd before Bobby Long took the stage. Below are Samantha Whates and Shaun O'Reilly performing their sets. You can follow them on Twitter at @samantha_whates and @SOReillyMusic .
Bobby opened his set with the title track of his new album Ode To Thinking and performed almost every song off this album, his 3rd, during the evening, as well as a mixture of older tracks from previous albums and cover songs.
Here is our video of album track Treat Me Like A Stranger
His family were in the audience and this made for a fun story and opening to his song The Song The Kids Sing.
(thanks to HollyArranBlue for the video)
Bobby also performed fan favourites The Bounty Of Mary Jane, Penance Fire Blues plus Who Have You Been Loving and his last song of the gig Dead And Done which both got fans singing along.
Bobby's encore was a cover song, which Bobby introduced as one of his favourite songs, a great version of 100 Years From Today by Jack Teagarden.
