On Thursday 25th June, ‘Discovery 2’ hosted an
enjoyable evening of music, displaying a variety of musicians at 229 The Venue on Great
Portland Street, London.
Having held such showcases before, 229 The Venue has a very
comfortable atmosphere helping the audience to really get into the music and
appreciate the musician. @229thevenue
To start off the evening, singer/songwriter Mo Michael
(who has been a session musician for artists such as Tina Turner and Wham!)
cheerily strummed some of his own acoustic compositions and a cover of ‘Summer
Breeze’, to which he added his own chilled sound. @MoMichael2
Following on from him
was Sheepy, a lively ‘Indie Pop Punk’ act who succeeded in completely change the
vibe of the venue into what felt like a mini indie gig! It certainly encouraged
the crowd to have a little jig in their spot. They performed their
soon-to-be-released single ‘Wild’ from their new EP of the same name. @Sheepymusic
Next up was a band of four brothers from Edinburgh, Ded Rabbit,
who continued the energetic set. Ded Rabbit ‘‘without the ‘A’’ blasted out
‘Scarlet Cardigan’ amongst others and left the audience whooping and hollering
at the end of their set. @Ded_Rabbit
Delaire was the next singer up, and she treated us to
her single which features on iTunes, ‘Belief’. Delaire reminded me very much of
Marina and the Diamonds in her new ‘FROOT’ era, with some tunes reminiscent of
the disco/80s period. @Delairemusic
To conclude, Melbourne-based singer/song-writer (AND
Violinist!) Rita Satch showcased her song ‘Heartbreaker’ to which Rita revealed
her Amy Winehouse-tinged vocals. @RitaSatch
Overall, the night was thoroughly entertaining and great to
uncover new talent from a range of genres!
